Dr. Catherine Schaumann has been interested in animals and their care since she was a little girl. She spent 15 years in human medicine as a nurse (pediatric, cardiac, ICU, emergency) before beginning veterinary school at the University of Illinois in 2021.

When not at work, Dr. Schaumann enjoys time on her small hobby farm with 2 horses (Pizzazz and Sprockets), 2 goats (Bonnie and Clyde), 2 indoor cats (Joe Diffie and Gloria), 2 dogs (Lobo and Ollie), and 4 barn cats (Fluffernutter, Frontflip, Squeaker, and Steve). Riding horses was her first love and she grew up riding hunters and jumpers. Now, she enjoys training and riding English pleasure, dabbling in jumping and dressage. She also enjoys spending time gardening and with her family.

Dr. Schaumann is excited to join the AMC team and looks forward to furthering her learning and practice in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care.
